Audit Scorecard
To ensure accountability and transparency in how taxpayer dollars are spent, I have created a brand new audit scorecard. The Controller's office releases dozens of audits each year, which provide specific recommendations on how we can make the City run more efficiently and effectively. I firmly believe these audits can play a vital role in improving how our City functions and we must make certain that they don't just sit on the shelf. I want to ensure that the audit recommendations are implemented quickly.
My goal is to make sure that those responsible are held accountable for implementing the recommendations included in my audits. I also want to ensure that all taxpayers, stakeholders and interested parties have instant access to the most up-to-date information on our completed audits.
The scorecard not only includes links to the completed audits, but also to the responses and action plans of audited Departments and my written evaluation of their responses. In the past, there has been insufficient follow through to implement the audit recommendations. That is why we have set up clear benchmarks for action: from the department's response, to the City Council hearing and actions on my audit recommendations. You will see that it is clearly marked in red if a department, the City Council, Mayor or even the Controller's office has been delinquent in implementing the audit recommendations.
With your help we can ensure that there is true accountability and transparency at City Hall and ensure that your hard earned tax dollars are spent efficiently and effectively. To download a copy of the Controller's updated scorecard, please click here.
Sincerely,
City Controller Wendy Greuel
